Part Nine

“Are we already there?” she asked surprised while pushing down the skirt of her dress again.

“Uhm…yeah, the driver is smoking in front of the house.” Rich told her after taking a short look out of the tinted windows.

“Oh my God. That’s so embarrassing.” She ran her fingers nervously through her hair, trying to finger comb it.

“Nah, it’s not…I’m pretty sure it wasn’t a first for him.” Rich placed a short kiss on her lips. She looked at him skeptical.

“How about we go inside? I’ll promise there will be no drivers.” She chuckled lightly at his comment and got out of the car with him.

“Nice place….massive.” She let her gaze wander over the impressive house or better mansion that was close to one of New Jersey’s beaches.

“Thanks. I like it a lot….Come on.” He tangled his fingers with hers and pulled her slowly with him to the front door. As soon as they stepped into the big foyer, which was illuminated by some dimmed lights, voices of children could be heard. She hesitated, but it was too late.

In the next moment, a six-year old boy and girl rushed down the stairs, obviously chasing each other. When they spotted the two adults, they stopped dead in their tracks.

“Dad, Lauren took all my candy.” The boy whined and pointed at his sister.

“That’s true, but John took mine first and already ate it all. That’s not fair, right Mom?” the girl looked at the blond woman, who was standing next to her father with big eyes.

That woman tried hard not to laugh, but keep a stern face. Without reacting at her daughter’s complaint, she looked at the delicate platinum watch on her left wrist.

“Why aren’t you two in bed? It’s already after 2 a.m.?” she asked in a calm voice. The eyes of her twins grew wide in shock.

“Oh shit.” Lauren whispered and grabbed her brother’s hand to drag him upstairs with her. A few seconds later you could hear two doors close loudly.

“Well,…that was the reality check, Mr. Sambora.” She turned to her husband laughing lightly.

“I think you are right, darling.” He wrapped his right arm around her waist and pulled her close for a long kiss before she had the chance to vanish upstairs as well.

Kris leaned her head against his shoulder after they parted and inhaled the sweet mixture of his scent. He still smelled like sex. Like dirty, rough and naughty sex. Sighing she moved away from him.

“I will check on Andrew first and then on Lauren and John.” She told him already moving towards the stairs. He nodded.

“I’ll see if Ava is still awake. I wanna know what kinda stunt our two little devils pulled to stay up all night.” He shook his head lightly. The twins really were a handful and to be honest only Kris and Dorothea could really handle them. All other family members would normally give up after the third or fourth try. He hoped his youngest would be a little less stressful.

“Ok, see you in a few.” Kris turned to the first door on the right, which was opposite to their bedroom, while Rich continued his walk down the hall to his daughter’s room.

He knocked softly at her door and wasn’t surprised when he heard her voice telling him to come in. She was a night owl just like him.

“Hi princess. Still on the computer?” it seemed the lap top or phone was glued to her these days, even in bed. He would never understand teenagers.

“Hi dad. How was your evening?” Ava looked up from the screen.

“Uhm,….nice. I guess you could say, it was nice.” He said a little hesitant and couldn’t hide the grin that spread across his face, when he thought about the night’s events.

“Okaaaay,….I don’t think I wanna know more. Jesus.” She shook her head lightly and snuggled deeper into her pillow. Rich chuckled.

“So, can you tell me why our two dare devils are still awake?” he wanted to know.

“I put them to bed four times and they got up again and again. I finally decided to let them run around and prayed that they would eventually get tired and fall asleep. I have to say though they have quite a stamina.” Rich only nodded. Bedtime for the twins was 8 p.m. They managed to stay awake for over six hours. Luckily, it wasn’t a school night.

“What about Andy?” he asked his daughter. She smiled lightly.

“He was a good baby. He woke up to have his last bottle around 11:30 p.m. and is sleeping peacefully ever since.” Ava pointed at the baby phone on her nightstand.

“Well, at least someone who got some sleep. Thanks for babysitting, princess.” He kissed her forehead shortly.

“No problem, Dad. You two needed a night for yourself.”

“Well,…thanks… I guess….Do me a favor?.....Don’t stay on this thing…what is it?” Ava turned the screen so he could see it.

“Twitter, Dad. You have an account yourself.” His daughter pointed out.

“Yeah, I know. But only because you set it up. Don’t stay on it too long. It’s already late, princess.”

“Ok, Dad.” She said and turned her laptop off.

“Night, princess.”

“Night, Dad.”
